На брифинге в Белом доме министр финансов США Скотт Бессент и пресс-секретарь Каролин Левитт обсудили фискальную политику, торговые сделки и налоговый законопроект. Доходы от тарифов могут пойти на налоговые льготы, в частности на освобождение от налогов чаевых, социальное обеспечение и сверхурочные.

Официальные лица считают, что тарифы способны возродить американское производство и приносить существенные доходы. Министр пояснил, что текущая тарифная политика Китая неустойчива и может привести к потере до 10 млн рабочих мест.

Что касается автомобильных тарифов, министр заявил о намерении Дональда Трампа вернуть автомобильное производство в США. Льготы по автомобильным тарифам, как ожидается, существенно поспособствуют этим усилиям.
