Представитель РФ при Евросоюзе Владимир Чижов в своем интервью сделал предположение о том, что Великобритания намерена отказаться от причастности к антироссийским санкциям после Brexit. При этом политический деятель выразил надежды на то, что ситуация с санкционными экономическими мерами против России разрешится самостоятельно к моменту окончательного выхода Британии из состава ЕС. 

После того, как Великобритания покинет Евросоюз, она не будет больше связана обязательствами и решениями, принятыми членами ЕС, в частности – условиями Соглашения о партнерстве и сотрудничестве. Соответственно, логично ожидать более позитивного отношения к России со стороны Британии. Однако дипломат охарактеризовал эти планы как «гипотетические». Также Чижов поделился своими соображениями по поводу самого Brexit. Он считает, что разъединение все же состоится, однако принесет определенные издержки для обеих сторон.  

Напомним, Великобритания приняла решение выйти из состава Европейского союза 23 июня 2016 года, а 24 марта 2017 года был запущен непосредственно сам процесс выхода государства из ЕС. Окончательный выход Британии должен состояться спустя 2 года после запуска процедуры Brexit.
