Natural gas prices in Europe dropped to an annual low on the eve of the summit of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Futures in Amsterdam have lost about 10% since the beginning of August, reaching their lowest level since May. On Friday, quotes at the Dutch TTF hub dropped by another 1.4% to €31.70 per megawatt hour. According to analysts, the market may unnecessarily rely on a rapid resumption of Russian gas supplies. Prices may go up if the United States tightens sanctions against the Russian energy sector in the absence of agreements. Meanwhile, Europe continues to increase its LNG reserves, which are already filled by almost 73%.
