China has suspended LNG imports from the United States

China has suspended imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, having not made purchases for 40 days. This was the longest break in energy trade between the two countries in almost two years. 

Due to the 15% duty imposed by Beijing on American LNG, which began operating on February 10, traders have to redirect supply flows to avoid economic losses. These actions were China's response to the duties imposed by the United States on Chinese exports.

At the moment, China is actively redirecting American LNG to European countries, while focusing on gas purchases in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East. At the same time, domestic natural gas production is increasing in the country, which makes it possible to compensate for the deficit.
