The UK and the EU plan to renew relations in 2025

The UK and the European Union plan to resume dialogue and restore economic ties in the coming year. Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves stressed the need to deepen cooperation with the European bloc to stimulate the national economy.

After Keir Starmer's appointment as Prime Minister, strengthening relations with the EU became one of the main directions of his foreign policy strategy. The previous Conservative government effectively destroyed trade communications as a result of the Brexit withdrawal, which led to a significant decline in economic activity.

Despite the circumstances, the European Union remains a key trading partner of the United Kingdom. After the «divorce», British companies faced additional administrative barriers and complicated procedures for cross-border interaction.

Negotiations with the EU are gaining additional importance against the background of the upcoming presidency of Donald Trump in the United States and threats of tariff wars that could negatively affect trade.
