In August, the share of the US dollar in international payments through the Swift system decreased to 46.94%, which was the lowest since February 2024 (46.56%). In July, the figure was 47.94%. Despite this, the dollar still ranks first. The European currency is in second place. The euro strengthened its position, rising from 23.11% to 25.61% (+2.5 percentage points). The pound sterling held the third position, falling to 6.76%. A month earlier, the share of the British currency was 7.24% (-0.48 percentage points). The yen and the Canadian dollar reduced their share to 3.37% and 2.96%, respectively. The Chinese yuan remained sixth, rising to 2.93% (+0.05 percentage points). In general, according to Swift data, the volume of payments in all currencies decreased by 6.77% in August.
