Russian President Vladimir Putin said that China continues to play a key role in the global economy, demonstrating steady growth. «The demand for energy resources is growing, including in the Chinese economy, which maintains growth rates above 5% and remains one of the engines of the global economy,» the head of state stressed at a press conference following his visit to China. He noted that Russia has every opportunity to expand energy supplies to China. From August 31 to September 3, Putin was in China on a working visit. During the trip, he participated in the SCO summit, held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders, and also met in a trilateral format with representatives of China and Mongolia. The visit ended with a parade in Beijing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japanese militarism and the end of World War II, where the Russian president was present as the main guest.
