The daily volume of trade between the EU and China exceeds 2 billion euros. This was stated by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing as part of the EU-China summit. She stressed that Europe and China are among the three largest world economies, and their trade relations are among the most significant. The European Union remains China's main trading partner, ranking first, while China ranks third in trade with the EU. Von der Leyen also noted the existing imbalance in bilateral trade and called for its greater sustainability and mutual benefit. She pointed out the need for joint efforts to address issues related to barriers and transparency. In recent years, relations between the parties have become complicated due to mutual accusations of violating the rules of competitive trade, the imposition of duties and complaints to the WTO. These disagreements led to the so-called «trade wars.» As the EU's ties with the United States deteriorate, Brussels is increasingly talking about the need to strengthen relations with China.
