Global trade in liquefied natural gas (LNG) will increase by 5.5% in 2025, higher than the previous estimate of 5%, according to a new report from the International Energy Agency (IEA). The growth will amount to about 30 billion cubic meters, mainly due to the launch of new large LNG projects in North America. The year 2026 promises to be a record year for increasing supplies over the past eight years: the volume of LNG supply may grow by 7%, which is about 40 billion cubic meters. The main contribution to the growth will be made by the USA, Canada and Qatar. According to the IEA, North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) will account for over 70% of the total new capacity to be commissioned in 2026. The launch of the American Golden Pass LNG project, which will significantly enhance the region's export potential, will be especially important.
