Общее число больных коронавирусом в мире к концу дня может достигнуть 2,5 миллионов человек. Только в Соединенных Штатах насчитывается почти 800 000 зарегистрированных случаев заболевания, статистика может вырасти ещё больше после того, как правительство одобрит очередной раунд стимулирования, который включает в себя покупку дополнительных тестов.

В Европе пик пандемии, по-видимому, пройден. Многие страны Европейского союза заявили о планах ослабления ограничительных и карантинных мер, которые в течение последних двух месяцев парализовали экономику в регионе. Появилась надежда на то, что май станет месяцем перемен в ЕС.

Доллар США остается самой сильной валютой на мировом финансовом рынке. Публикуемые сейчас фундаментальные отчеты отражают показатели компаний и государств за март месяц, когда весь мир был наиболее сильно поражен коронавирусом.  Спрос на доллар как на безопасный актив повысил его стоимость, несмотря на то, что Федеральный Резервный банк Соединенных Штатов резко снизил ставки и предпринял больше стимулирующих мер, чем любой другой центральный банк в мире.
