The current US Treasury Secretary may take over as head of the Federal Reserve. More and more of Trump's advisers, members of the presidential administration and other representatives of the country's political elite are calling for the appointment of Scott Bessent as the new head of the Fed. Powell's term will end in May 2026. He took office during Trump's first term as president. However, conflicts arose even then – the impulsive Republican does not like Powell's conservative approach, so the chances of a replacement are quite high. The Russian ruble remains strong. At yesterday's auction, the dollar went below 78 rubles, and the yuan updated the minimum for 2 years – 10.83 rubles. However, analysts expect the ruble to stop growing in the second half of the year and we may see the dollar at 90+. Slovakia will not support new sanctions against Russia. Prime Minister Fico said that the republic can support the 18th package only if the European Union provides it with a «realistic solution to a possible crisis situation» that could follow the introduction of a complete ban on gas, oil and nuclear fuel supplies from Russia. At the end of May, the Federal Court for International Trade declared illegal the duties imposed by Trump against China, Canada and Mexico. In Russia, after 8 years of discussions, they are ready to launch a money insurance system for IC. The bill was passed in the first reading back in 2017. But then the authorities could not agree on how the mechanism should work. Two years ago, the president proposed to launch insurance, and the mechanism will finally work in 2025. Investors' investments will be protected from bankruptcy by professional market participants.
