The European Commission and the administration of Donald Trump continue active negotiations with a view to concluding a trade agreement before July 9, the deadline set by Washington. This was reported by representatives of the EU. According to a spokesperson for the European Commission, a «constructive exchange of views» took place last Sunday between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump. The representative stressed that Brussels is still striving for an agreement that will help avoid the introduction of new duties: «We stand for a mutually beneficial outcome, not for solutions that harm both sides.» According to the position of the Trump administration, trading partners who have not reached an agreement before July 9 will receive official notifications on the introduction of new tariffs from August 1.
