The April indicator was revised downward by 14.7%. At the same time, the volume of retail sales excluding automobiles and components in May grew by 12.4% compared to April. April was revised to a decrease of 15.2% from the previous estimate of a decrease of 17.2%. Retail sales are one of the most important indicators of the state of the American economy, as consumer spending accounts for about 70% of the country's GDP.
