Дональд Трамп заявил, что Соединенные Штаты ведут переговоры с Великобританией по поводу заключения торгового соглашения. В своем интервью журналу «The Wall Street Journal» президент США не вдавался в подробности, отметив, тем не менее, что новое соглашение будет являться очень крупной торговой сделкой, задействующей множество областей бизнеса обеих стран. 

Планируется распространить условия соглашения на сферу сельского хозяйства, авиации и финансовых услуг. Власти США надеются на оформление сделки после окончательного выхода Великобритании (Brexit) из состава Евросоюза  в 2019 году. 

Также Трамп затронул тему NAFTA с Канадой и Мексикой, вновь напомнив, что, несмотря на готовность американских властей пересмотреть условия Североамериканского соглашения о свободной торговле, Вашингтон готов в любой момент разорвать эти отношения (в случае неудовлетворительных для американских рабочих условий).
