Финансовые власти Соединенных Штатов официально заявили, что страна находится в состоянии экономического спада. Это заявление было сделано на фоне сообщений о рекордно высоком уровне безработицы и значительном падении ВВП в первом квартале 2020 года. Отчеты по второму кварталу будут готовы только через несколько недель.

Причиной замедления темпов роста экономики являются ограничения, введенные для предотвращения распространения коронавируса и заражения им большего числа людей. По оценкам Всемирного банка, глобальный экономический рост сократится на 5,2%. Пандемия окажет несколько меньшее воздействие на развивающиеся страны, чем на развитые, которые могут потерять более 7% ВВП. Оценка Всемирного банка почти в два раза хуже предыдущего прогноза МВФ.

Сегодня мы наблюдаем спад на нефтяном рынке. После первоначального оптимизма, вызванного решением членов ОПЕК+ о продлении сокращения добычи до конца июля и роста спроса на энергоресурсы со стороны Китая, вернулись опасения по поводу долгосрочных перспектив. Текущего сокращения может оказаться недостаточно, чтобы компенсировать глобальное падение спроса, что, скорее всего, ограничит дальнейший рост котировок. Нефть марки Brent снизилась до $40.06 за баррель, а WTI – до $37.30.
