За один день до саммита Евросоюза премьер-министр Великобритании Борис Джонсон и его команда усердно работают над новой сделкой.

Джонсон должен представить на саммите текст, в котором рассматривается вопрос ирландской границы, чтобы лидеры ЕС могли ратифицировать его. Если премьер-министру удастся получить одобрение ЕС, тогда он должен будет вынести свою сделку на голосование в парламенте, прежде чем она будет официально принята.

Первоначальное предложение Бориса Джонсона включало ряд разрозненных таможенных проверок, разбросанных по Северной Ирландии. Хотя премьер-министр утверждал, что это не является жесткой границей, Ирландия не согласилась, и общая идея сделки была поставлена под сомнение.
