The European Commission plans to propose lowering the ceiling on oil prices from Russia to $45 per barrel and banning the use of the Nord Stream infrastructure as part of the new sanctions. According to the publication, the new package of sanctions will include lowering the current price ceiling from $60 to $45 per barrel. In addition, the European Commission intends to impose new sanctions against Russian banks and courts linked to Russia, as well as take measures to protect Belgium from possible lawsuits from Moscow over frozen assets. Experts express optimism about the possibility of reaching agreement among EU countries on a new package of sanctions by the end of July.
