Розничные продажи в Великобритании снизились в августе уже одиннадцатый месяц подряд, сообщает Конфедерация британской промышленности (CBI). Индекс продаж составил -32 против -34 в июле и -46 в июне.

Причина: рост цен в магазинах самыми быстрыми темпами с конца 2023 года.

Рост цен и высокие издержки продолжают давить на сектор, отмечает главный экономист CBI Мартин Сарториус. По его словам, слабый спрос и рост затрат сокращают прибыльность, что отражается на планах компаний по инвестициям и найму.

Прогноз на сентябрь несколько улучшился – опережающий индикатор поднялся до -16, что указывает на смягчение спада, хотя ситуация в рознице остается сложной.
