Индия продолжает вести переговоры с США после введения с 27 августа дополнительной 25%-ной пошлины на индийские товары из-за закупок российской нефти. В совокупности тарифы теперь достигают 50%.

По данным источников, Нью-Дели стремится найти взаимопонимание и заключить торговое соглашение, но при этом не намерен поступаться интересами фермеров и малого бизнеса. Власти называют действия Вашингтона «необоснованными» и надеются, что пошлина носит временный характер.

В Индии отмечают, что США не применяли аналогичных мер к более крупным импортерам российской нефти, включая Китай, которому недавно продлили 90-дневную паузу по тарифам.

МИД Индии ранее осудил действия США, назвав их «несправедливыми и неразумными».
